Custom Pricing by the Number of People

Amelia now allows you to define flexible pricing based on the number of people booking a group service. This feature is particularly useful for businesses offering workshops, classes, or group appointments, where pricing may vary depending on the group size.

Why is this feature useful?

For group-based services, it’s often necessary to provide discounts for larger groups or adjust prices depending on how many participants are attending. With “Custom Pricing by the Number of People,” you can:

  • Offer group discounts based on participant count
  • Create tiered pricing structures that reflect real-world business models
  • Improve transparency for customers while streamlining your pricing logic

Imagine you’re offering a group yoga class priced at $30 per person. With this feature, you can configure the system so that:

  • The first 5 customers are charged $30 each

  • From the 6th to the 10th customer, the price drops to $25 per person

This allows you to incentivize larger group bookings without manually adjusting the service or communicating custom rates.

How It Works

To access this option:

  1. Go to the Services page in Amelia’s back-end.

  2. Create a new service or edit an existing one.

  3. In the Service Duration & Pricing, scroll down to the Conditional Pricing section on the right-hand side.

Here, you will see two options:

  • Pricing by the number of people

  • Custom Duration and Pricing

Please Note: You can only enable one of these two at a time.

Important: The “Pricing by the number of people” option will only be visible if the service is set as a group service – that is, if the maximum capacity is greater than 1. If the service is for individual appointments only, this option will be hidden, and you’ll only see the Custom Duration and Pricing toggle.

Setting Up Tiered Pricing

Once you enable Pricing by the number of people, you can define pricing rules based on participant ranges.

Example:

  • 1 to 5 people → $30 per person

  • 6 to 10 people → $25 per person

You can add multiple tiers, depending on your business needs.

If you disable the option “The price will multiply by the number of people”, the pricing tiers will be applied based on the total number of participants in the booking, and the price will be charged according to the applicable range, not per person.

When the “Pricing by the number of people” option is enabled, users will see a popup window after selecting a service and clicking the Continue button.

This popup allows users to quickly choose how many people will be joining them for the appointment. The price will automatically adjust based on the selected option.

If you prefer not to display this popup, you can easily disable it in the Customize section under:

Customize → Bring someone with you → Pricing by the number of people

Switching to Custom Duration and Pricing

If you choose to enable Custom Duration and Pricing instead, the Pricing by the number of people option will automatically be disabled.
