How to set up deposit payments for packages in Amelia

Deposits for packages give you the flexibility to request part of the package price upfront while allowing the customer to complete the remaining payment later. This is especially helpful for higher-value packages where customers may prefer splitting the cost into two stages.

Packages use the same deposit principles as services but with simplified logic because packages are purchased as a single unit.

Info Note

The Deposit payment feature is available in the Standard, Pro and Elite license plans.

Where do I enable deposits for packages?

Make sure the Deposit payment feature is enabled in Features & Integrations.

To configure a deposit for a specific package, open Catalog → Packages, select a package, and navigate to the Pricing section.

Here you can activate deposit payments for that individual package and define how much the customer needs to pay during the booking.

What kinds of deposits can I set for a package?

Packages support two types of deposits:

  • Fixed amount – A specific upfront amount that does not change regardless of package content or individual service prices.
  • Percentage – A percentage based on the total package price.

Because packages are purchased as a single item, both deposit types are applied to the package price as a whole.

How are package deposits calculated?

A percentage deposit adjusts automatically if the package price changes, ensuring the upfront payment always reflects the current package value.

A fixed deposit remains constant no matter how the package is structured or priced. This makes it useful when you want predictable deposit amounts for all customers.

Unlike services, packages do not involve extras or additional people during booking, so deposit calculations remain straightforward and do not require multiplication or additional adjustments.

Alert Please note

Packages cannot apply deposits per person. The package is always purchased by a single customer, so the Multiply deposit by number of people option is not available.

Can customers choose to pay the full price instead of the deposit?

Yes. When editing the package, you can enable Allow customers to pay full amount.

With this enabled, customers can decide whether they want to pay the deposit only or settle the entire package price during checkout. If disabled, the system will always require only the deposit upfront.

How do customers see the deposit during the booking process?

During checkout, the booking form highlights the package price, the deposit amount due now, and the remaining balance to be paid later.

This clear breakdown helps customers understand the cost structure before completing the transaction. Since package bookings do not involve multiple people or extras, the displayed amount is always a simple reflection of the package total and the chosen deposit type.

What should I keep in mind when using deposits for packages?

  • Deposit payments appear only when at least one online payment method is enabled.
  • A fixed deposit does not change based on package content or pricing variations.
  • A percentage deposit automatically adapts to the current package price.
  • Customers always see a full payment breakdown before completing the booking.
  • The remaining amount must be collected on-site or via a payment link, depending on your payment setup.
