Sometimes the best weekends are the ones where you leave with sore cheeks from smiling so much, and that was exactly our experience at WordCamp Vršac 2025.
From the moment we arrived, it felt like walking into a big family reunion (but with more laptops and fewer awkward questions about your life choices). People were welcoming, conversations flowed so naturally, and the whole vibe of the camp lived up perfectly to its slogan: “Wind. WordPress. Wine.”
And yes, there really was plenty of all three.
Talks That Got Us Thinking
The talks were as inspiring as the atmosphere, and a few in particular really stuck with us:
Ivana Petrović made us rethink the relationship between developers and marketers with her talk “If the site is so good, why isn’t it selling?”. A gentle nudge that building a great site isn’t enough, you also need to understand the marketing brain. Teamwork is the magic word here.
Miodrag Veljović walked us through the anatomy of a landing page that actually converts. (Spoiler: it’s not just about pretty design, there’s so much more if you want your landing page to perform as it should).
Ivana Ćirković tackled the AI buzz with her talk and showed us that AI can be a helper, but authenticity and human touch are what keep content real.
Marija Zarić’s session on building small business websites from scratch definitely made us rethink the concept of designing in the browser.
And finally, Maja Jovančević blew our minds with her talk focusing on SEO architecture. She made it clear that in tough niches (like gambling), your site architecture is either your fortress… or your downfall. A true wake-up call for anyone who thinks SEO is just about keywords.
Beyond the Stage
But let’s be real, WordCamps aren’t just about the talks. They’re about everything in between.
First, there was the Speaker’s dinner on the day we arrived. A perfect opportunity to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by great food and exquisite wine. Then, there was Contributor Day, where we rolled up our sleeves to give back to the WordPress project and felt that amazing “we’re building something bigger together” energy. And there was the Kids Camp, which easily was one of the cutest parts of the weekend, watching little ones dive into the world of WordPress with wide eyes and zero fear.
And of course… the countless hallway chats, random encounters, and conversations that started with “What do you do?” and ended with “We should totally collaborate.” Those were priceless.
True to its motto, the weekend had the perfect blend of wind, WordPress, and yes… a little wine.
What We’re Taking Home
- A reminder that code and marketing need each other.
- Fresh landing page ideas to test right away.
- A balanced approach to AI (use it, but don’t lose yourself).
- The beauty of keeping small business sites simple.
- A serious respect for strong SEO architecture.
- …and, most importantly, a ton of new friends.
Thank You, Vršac
WordCamp Vršac 2025 wasn’t just a conference. It was a celebration of community, curiosity, and connection. We came for the WordPress, we stayed for the people, and we left with stories, ideas, and memories that will stick with us long after the weekend.
So here’s to the organizers, volunteers, speakers, and every single person we laughed, learned, and clinked glasses with. Hvala, Vršac, you were everything we hoped for and more.
Until the next WordCamp…
