WordCamp Wrocław 2025 was more than just another entry in the WordPress event calendar. It was a weekend full of learning, hallway conversations, unexpected adventures (yes, our bus broke down on the way!), and reconnections with friends from across the WordPress community.
Set in the stunning city of Wrocław, the event brought together developers, freelancers, product people, marketers, agency owners, and contributors. And they were all speaking the same language of open source, collaboration, and the future of the platform we love.
The Atmosphere in Wrocław
WordCamp Wrocław was held in a city that felt made for inspiration: from its charming cobblestone streets and colorful town squares to cozy cafés tucked around every corner, the city itself radiated a creative energy that perfectly matched the spirit of the conference. Even the morning hiccup — our bus breaking down en route — felt like part of the adventure, and stepping off the bus into the crisp city air made the long journey instantly worth it.
Once inside the venue, Basecamp by Xior, the atmosphere was electric. It felt exactly like a WordCamp should: a melting pot of developers exchanging coding tips, agency founders discussing business challenges, product managers exploring innovation, and contributors sharing their passion for open source. The rooms buzzed with energy, workshops overflowed with curiosity, and the hallways were alive with casual conversations that sparked ideas and collaboration. For us, it was the perfect combination of learning, inspiration, and community and a reminder of why these gatherings are so important in the WordPress ecosystem.
Key Themes from This Year’s Event
Several ideas appeared repeatedly across talks, discussions, and workshops:
- WordPress is building the next generation of contributors
- AI is transforming everything — content, development, search, and workflows
- Scalability, automation, and modern engineering practices are now must-haves
- Freelancers and agencies benefit more from personal branding than chasing clients
- Testing, playground environments, and better development processes are growing priorities
Just like at WordCamp Athens, Wrocław reinforced that AI, automation, and contributor growth are shaping the future of WordPress.
Talks That Stood Out
Matt Pilarski walked through how WordPress nurtures leadership through initiatives like Campus Connect and WordPress Credits. For us, that underlines the importance of supporting open source mentorship, which is a value that sits at the core of every true WordPresser’s philosophy.
Piotr Mońka shared his journey leading WordPress development at scale: architecture, growing teams, and engineering best practices. Scalable WordPress isn’t just possible; with the right people and mindset, it’s a competitive advantage.
Mateusz Kaliś gave us a provocative panel that explored how AI may feel like a threat, but really, it’s a catalyst. The discussion centered on how developers, businesses, and creators can adapt, not retreat.
This session was especially exciting: Fellyph Cintra introduced how WordPress Playground (running in the browser!) can help automate testing, integration, and CI/CD flows.
Jovana Smoljanovic Tucakov dove into how AI is reinventing search: zero-click answers, snapshots, and brand authority matter more than ever. This has big implications for content strategy, SEO, and conversions, as SEO is shifting from keyword battles to structured information, authority, clarity, and topical depth.
Łukasz Wilczak explained why Custom Content Types (CCTs) might be the future for structured WordPress projects, as they are more flexible, scalable, and semantically rich than traditional CPTs.
Magda Rose gave a masterclass in building trust, visibility, and client attraction without chasing leads. Your reputation is your business. Invest in it.
A strong and practical business session focused on communication, client psychology, and negotiation strategies. Bogumił Wróbel showed that better negotiation isn’t confrontation. It’s clarity, empathy, structure, and understanding needs.
Beyond the Schedule: The Value of the Hallway Track
As always, some of the best moments happened outside the official rooms:
- Catching up with friends and colleagues we hadn’t seen for a while
- Meeting people who use our products
- Conversations that turned into ideas we can’t wait to try
- New faces joining the community for the first time
WordCamps remind us that remote work and online projects are great, but nothing replaces face-to-face connection.
Goodbye, Wrocław, We’ll Miss You
Despite transportation surprises and a long journey, WordCamp Wrocław 2025 was worth every minute. We left with new strategies to test, new connections, inspiration to contribute and push forward, and a renewed appreciation for the WordPress community.
Huge thanks to the organizers, speakers, volunteers, and everyone who made the event possible!
