Some nights, I find myself thinking about the first time I imagined Amelia. It was simple: a tool that just works, helping businesses manage appointments without friction. Back then, I couldn’t have imagined how many lives it would touch, how many businesses it would quietly support, or how many moments of trust it would be part of.
Over the years, I’ve watched Amelia grow, and with growth comes a paradox. On one hand, it’s powerful and capable beyond what we ever imagined. On the other, complexity slowly creeps in, and the simplicity we loved starts to feel heavy.
That’s why we decided it was time for a complete redesign. And today, I want to give you a first look at what’s coming in Amelia 9.0, including the philosophy behind the redesign and the exciting new experiences we’ve been building.
Why We Decided to Redesign Amelia
One early morning, as the office was just waking up, our team gathered around a whiteboard, reviewing every interaction, every workflow, every feature. We asked ourselves a tough question: Are we still building Amelia for the people who rely on it every day, or are we just building more complexity?
The answer was humbling. We realized it was time to step back, to rethink not just how Amelia looks, but how it feels, how it flows, and how it empowers our users. Not a facelift. A full revamp. Something built on the past we all love while embracing the future at the same time.
I want to give you a small peek behind the curtain:
- There are long debates over tiny details: how many clicks should it take to schedule a recurring appointment, how colors and spacing affect clarity, how a subtle animation can make an interaction feel effortless.
- There are moments of “aha!” when a feature suddenly feels intuitive, the kind of simplicity that makes people wonder why it wasn’t always that way.
- And there are moments of doubt, too, because redesigning something people love is delicate. Every decision matters.
We’re not just polishing Amelia; we’re reimagining it. Every workflow, every button, every microinteraction is being designed with one goal: to make your day lighter, smoother, and more enjoyable.
That’s why this redesign focuses on three pillars:
- Clarity over clutter: As Amelia gained features, the UI wasn’t always keeping up. We wanted a cleaner, more intuitive experience.
- Future-ready: This redesign lays the foundation for what’s coming next – modern interface, deeper integrations, and advanced automation.
- User-first design: Every change was guided by the question: “Does this save time for our users?”

These features aren’t live yet, but here’s a preview of what you’ll be testing soon in the Alpha.
Brand-new experiences
We didn’t just polish; we built entirely new ways to schedule, manage, and save time. These are the fresh additions that open up entirely new ways to use Amelia:
Light & dark mode
Sometimes you’re working late at night. Sometimes in daylight. Now Amelia adapts to you; switch between light and dark mode instantly with the moon/sun icon in the top corner, so your workspace is always comfortable.
And for developers who spend their days in dark code editors, Amelia now feels even more natural. With dark mode, our interface blends seamlessly into the environment you already prefer.
One-click scheduling
Adding appointments and events directly from the calendar is now easier than ever. Click on any day and a pop-up opens with the date (and time, if you’re in Week or Day view) already preselected. That means fewer clicks, less friction, and faster scheduling.
And there’s more: when you filter the calendar by employee, Amelia now visually marks breaks and unavailable periods. This makes it crystal clear which times are off-limits, so you avoid scheduling conflicts before they happen.
Redesigned the add & edit experience
The “Add New” option has evolved into a full-screen creation experience that gives you room to focus. Some setups now have their own step, while others have been moved or merged, all with the same goal of making the creation process easier and smoother.
Editing has also been reimagined: no more cramped dialogs. Everything is done on full pages for better visibility, more space, and a streamlined workflow.
But don’t worry — quick changes are still available and even expanded, so you can make them instantly in the table or detailed side dialog, all with just a click.
Smarter, flexible tables
With the new customizable tables, you can now choose exactly which columns matter to your business using the Edit Table option. Want more detail? Add as many as you like. Prefer a cleaner view? Hide what you don’t need.
And if your chosen columns extend beyond the screen, the layout now supports smooth horizontal scrolling, so you can easily view and manage all the data without sacrificing clarity. You can also adjust how many items are shown per page directly on the table.
Built-in guidance
Every management page now has a Tips & Suggestions section with links to documentation and best practices. Help is always just one click away.
Smart shortcuts
We’ve added contextual shortcuts like:
- “Show in Calendar” on Employees to quickly see schedules.
- Direct links to Customer Custom Fields when editing customers.
And more, because the fastest navigation is always the one that feels invisible.
Features & integrations page
We’ve introduced a brand new Features & Integrations page to make your setup smoother — a central place where you can easily see everything Amelia has to offer. No more clicking through endless tabs to find what you need; just head to this page, use filters or the search bar, and you’ll get to the right feature in seconds.
Don’t need a certain feature or integration right now? Hide it with a click. Whether it’s not part of your plan or simply not relevant to your workflow, you’ll only see the tools that matter to you.
The result is a cleaner, less complex Amelia: easier onboarding, smoother navigation, and a workspace that adapts to your needs.
Smarter & sharper
We’ve taken what you already love about Amelia and made it faster, clearer, and more powerful:
A unified catalog page
We’ve renamed the page that houses your Services, Packages, and Resources: it’s now simply called Catalog. A more intuitive name that better reflects your business offering.
More filters & sorting
Frontend form sorting is now independent from backend tables, making data management easier and more predictable.:
- Edit tables without affecting how they display on the front end.
- Show or hide filters whenever you want.
- Sort and organize data in a way that fits your workflow.
Smooth on mobile
Amelia now feels smoother and easier to navigate on smaller screens, so you can manage your business seamlessly, even on the go.
All-in-one customer view
The Customers page now shows full booking activity across appointments, events, and packages in one place.
Detailed quick-edit side dialog
In previous versions, clicking on an item expanded the row to show only limited details. Now, that same click opens a sidebar details panel with full visibility.
Even better, the sidebar includes quick-change options – perfect for making small edits on the fly, without jumping into the full Edit page.
One-click notes
Adding notes to appointments or customers is now faster than ever. With a single click, you can drop a note directly on the page or inside the detailed modal.
If a client calls mid-day, you can follow along and capture important details instantly, no delays. It’s a small change with a big impact on speed and accuracy.
Streamlined for simplicity
Sometimes the best upgrade is getting out of your way. We reorganized Amelia so you always know where to go.
Unified bookings page
No more hopping between different pages. Services, events, and packages now all live in one Bookings page, each with its own tab, giving you a single command center for everything.
Streamlined employee integrations
Managing employee integrations is now easier. Instead of being buried in employee details, integrations now live in their own tab. It’s clearer, faster, and much easier to manage.
