AI booking for WordPress: manage appointments in plain language

Ask your AI agent to find a service, check employees, create an appointment, add a customer or staff member, or enroll someone in a recurring event. Amelia handles the actual booking logic behind the scenes through structured, authenticated WordPress abilities.

How AI booking
works with Amelia

Amelia's MCP integration connects the booking functionality you already use to AI tools that understand the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

01

Amelia exposes its abilities

Through the WordPress Abilities API, Amelia registers supported booking operations in a standardized, machine-readable format. Your AI client can understand what Amelia is capable of, while Amelia keeps control of the actual booking logic.

02

MCP makes them available to AI

The WordPress MCP Adapter turns those registered abilities into MCP tools that compatible AI clients can discover and call. Requests remain authenticated through WordPress.

03

Your AI client puts them to work

Connect Claude, an AI agent, or another MCP-compatible client and it can start discovering and using Amelia's available abilities. You give the instruction, the AI identifies the right tool, and Amelia performs the action.

Four things your AI agent can
do with Amelia right now

The first version of Amelia's MCP integration focuses on enabling you to handle a set of high-value booking workflows essential for everyday activity.

Create appointments with AI

Book any appointment, for a new or existing customer, using natural language. The AI agent takes a plain-language instruction, resolves the service and employee, and creates the appointment in Amelia.

Existing customers

The AI looks up the customer in Amelia and books them into the specified appointment. No duplicate record created.

New customers

If the customer doesn't exist yet, the AI can create their record and book the appointment in a single workflow.

Set it in action

From one sentence to a real Amelia action

Watch an AI assistant turn one sentence into a real Amelia booking. In each example the user types a plain-language request, the AI calls the matching Amelia ability, and the appointment appears in WordPress, validated by Amelia’s normal booking rules.

How to set up AI booking in WordPress

Amelia MCP isn't a switch you turn on inside the plugin. You connect Amelia to your AI workflow through the WordPress Abilities API and MCP Adapter.

Install the WordPress MCP adapter

Follow the setup guide at WordPress MCP adapter. Runs on your WordPress server, no external service required.

Connect your AI client

Point your MCP-compatible AI client (Claude or other) to the adapter endpoint. Amelia's registered abilities are discoverable automatically.

Configure permissions

Define which WordPress user role the AI client acts on behalf of. All Amelia actions respect existing role-based permissions.

One MCP connection and a much bigger WordPress workflow

Amelia doesn't have to work alone. IvyForms and wpDataTables can also expose AI-ready capabilities, opening the door to workflows that move beyond a single plugin.

Questions developers actually ask

No. Amelia does not include a built-in conversational AI interface. The WordPress Abilities API and MCP adapter provide infrastructure for external AI clients to interact with Amelia's booking capabilities through standardized protocols. You bring your own MCP-compatible AI client.

The current version covers four capabilities: listing employees, services (filterable by employee and price), and customers; creating appointments for new or existing customers using natural language; adding new customer or employee records; and assigning customers to recurring events.

Any MCP-compatible AI client or agent, including Claude and other tools that support the Model Context Protocol. The WordPress MCP adapter handles the translation between registered WordPress abilities and MCP tool calls.

For an experienced WordPress developer, typical setup is 30–60 minutes: installing and configuring the WordPress MCP adapter, connecting your AI client, and verifying ability discovery. See the setup documentation for step-by-step instructions.

Yes. When the AI client calls an Amelia ability to create an appointment, Amelia's full business logic runs the same as any booking made through the plugin. All validation, rules, and settings remain in effect.

Data is queried from your WordPress database and returned to your AI client. It does not leave your server to be stored by a third-party AI service. What the AI client does with the data depends on your agent configuration.

Yes. You configure which WordPress user role the AI client acts on behalf of, and which registered abilities it can access. You can scope it to read-only operations or specific actions only.

An AI booking assistant lets an AI agent — such as Claude or ChatGPT — create and manage appointments for you through natural language, instead of clicking through a booking calendar or admin panel. On WordPress, Amelia turns your existing booking system into abilities an AI assistant can call. A request like “Book a haircut with John at 3pm for Sarah” becomes a real appointment, validated by your normal booking rules.

Yes. Amelia has a free version on WordPress.org, and its AI booking connection runs on your own server through the open WordPress Abilities API and MCP adapter — so there’s no separate third-party AI-booking subscription to pay for. You connect your own MCP-compatible AI client, and many of those (including Claude and ChatGPT) offer free tiers. Premium Amelia plans add more scheduling features on top.

In three steps. 1) Install Amelia and the WordPress MCP adapter on your site. 2) Connect your MCP-compatible AI client (Claude, ChatGPT or another) to the adapter endpoint — Amelia’s booking abilities are discovered automatically. 3) Choose which WordPress user role the AI client acts on behalf of.
